COVID-19

Moving forward, we will no longer be testing individuals for returning to work or school after day 5, per an update from the California Department of Public Health. Details of our updated policy are below.

After testing positive for COVID:

• Isolate for 5 days after symptom onset or positive test (day 0) if asymptomatic.
• End isolation after completing 5 days of isolation if symptoms are mild/improving and fever-free without medication for 24 hours.
• Continue isolation if fever or symptoms persist; severe cases should consult a healthcare provider.
• Wear a well-fitting mask for 10 days around others. Can test out of wearing a mask with two negative COVID tests taken 24 hours apart and uploaded here for review by our Pandemic Team.
• If symptoms recur/worsen after isolation, retest and restart isolation if positive.

• CDPH and Santa Clara County have updated their guidance concerning the use of face coverings from requiring face coverings to recommending them in K-12 schools and childcare facilities.
• Any individual that wishes to wear a face covering is allowed to do so and extra face coverings can be picked up at the Front Office during school hours as needed.
• Any individual who has been exposed as a close contact or is returning once cleared by the Pandemic Team after a positive result is required to wear a mask indoors on campus for 10 days from exposure or from symptom start/positive result.

• If your student is ill with any symptoms, whether on the below list or not, we ask that you keep them home from school. Please visit our Attendance webpage to report your student’s absence.
• If your student is experiencing any one of the COVID-19 symptoms, you will be contacted by a member of our Pandemic Team and given the next steps and the proper protocol to be cleared to return to campus.
• If students become ill during the day, our faculty and staff will notify parents/guardians immediately and the student will be sent home. 
• Any individual experiencing a COVID-19 symptom must be symptom-free (or cough improved) and proof of a negative rapid test is required in order to be cleared to return to campus.
• If a person has known allergies they may come to school if they test negative. A person with known migraines doesn’t have to submit a test if they have a headache. These known ailments should be noted in your student's Magnus Health Record. If they have a lingering cough they can wear a face covering at school.
• Negative results MUST be uploaded by 5pm the evening before a student is ready to return.
• If a student returns to campus prior to being cleared by our team and no results have been received, our staff may administer a rapid test at school. 

• Fever of 100.0 or higher
• Chills
• Cough
• Loss of taste or smell
• Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
• Fatigue
• Muscle or body aches
• Headache
• Sore throat
• Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
• Congestion 

• Oakwood strongly encourages all eligible individuals to receive the COVID-19 vaccination and any subsequent booster doses to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
• Student's COVID-19 vaccination records can be uploaded into their Magnus Health record.

• Oakwood will continue to promote and reinforce frequent handwashing while on campus.
• Outdoor handwashing stations will remain around campus in addition to sinks in bathrooms and classrooms available for use.
• Hand sanitizer will also be made available as needed.
• Oakwood will continue to disinfect classroom spaces and high-touch surfaces with approved disinfectants from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency COVID-19 list.

•  Oakwood will continue to optimize ventilation in indoor spaces with the use of MERV-13 air filtration and air purifiers, consistent with the CDPH Guidance on COVID-19 and Improving Indoor Air Quality in Schools.

• Oakwood will continue to comply with state and county COVID-19 reporting requirements should we be made aware of a positive case on our campus.
• The Pandemic Team will work in conjunction with the county on contact tracing and notifications to any potential close contacts.

• Volunteers must fill out the Volunteer Application form and can upload their COVID-19 vaccination record there. If you have already filled out that form but did not upload your vaccination record, please do so here.
• While Oakwood encourages all eligible individuals to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, we will allow volunteers indoors this school year who are unvaccinated. 
• If you are not vaccinated against COVID-19, you must agree to submit a negative rapid test by 5pm the evening before you are scheduled to be on campus to volunteer, or come 30 minutes early to campus for a rapid test to be administered by our Front Office staff.
  • Negative results should have your name clearly handwritten with the date on or near the test and uploaded here.

• Our Pandemic Team follows the Santa Clara County Public Health COVID-19 Decision Tree for TK-12 and Childcare Settings to determine the appropriate return date for positive or symptomatic individuals.
