
Mr. Michael "Michael" Lyle
Michael Lyle is Director of Engineering and Maker Education and Director of Innovation and Institutional Research at Oakwood School. He mentors the school’s competitive robotics programs, and is the principal investigator for NyanSat, Oakwood’s student-led satellite engineering project selected by NASA’s CubeSat Launch Initiative. He also leads the school’s institutional research efforts, helping turn data into insight to support continuous improvement.
Before entering education, Mr. Lyle held engineering leadership and executive roles at startups and served as Chief Architect of the Enterprise Systems Group at Symantec. He was maintainer of the BCache subsystem in the Linux Kernel and holds over twenty patents. His work has been featured in outlets including Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times, and he has appeared as a subject matter expert on national and international news.
