Hayden “Coach Gus” Gustafson holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Kinesiology from San Jose State University as well as a Master of Science in Kinesiology. He has taught physical education since 2016 and has coached high school wrestling since 2010. As a physical education teacher at Oakwood School, he likes to interact with students at all stages of development and strives to make physical education an enjoyable experience for all students. He believes PE is important for students because it teaches them the value of staying active, teamwork, and sportsmanship. He appreciates the opportunity he has to help influence students’ decisions and behaviors, and to make a positive impact on how they view their own abilities. When he’s not teaching at Oakwood he enjoys traveling around the Bay Area taking his daughter to soccer tournaments and games or wrestling with his two boys at home.
