Students learn the art of parliamentary debate through the study of logic, rhetoric, and current events. They also research and analyze topics of importance and debate informally throughout the trimester. Students develop critical thinking and analytical skills through competition, and the course final is a two-week mock trial in which students implement the values of debate through effective performance. They also learn the basics of the law and judicial system and use this knowledge in activities that make their criminal court “come to life.”
Note: This course satisfies the public speaking requirement.
