Curriculum

Oakwood encourages students to push the boundaries of their academic potential and offers a wide variety of courses within a dynamic college-preparatory curriculum. Middle school students take two electives each trimester, a total of six per year, and these courses are a highlight of the Oakwood experience. Electives offer students an opportunity to pursue long-held interests, explore a new topic, and connect with faculty mentors across campus.

Oakwood School's middle school curriculum provides a core of strong academics, balanced by a broad selection of multi-age elective courses. Subjects include Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Physical Education, and Electives.

Throughout middle school, superior teachers enthusiastically share their areas of expertise with students, challenging them to become critical thinkers and problem-solvers, and to experience the joy of life-long learning.

Oakwood’s breadth and depth of curriculum set it apart among various educational opportunities. The curriculum is solid and time tested, but also continually reviewed to assure that the faculty has the best resources to make learning come alive for their students.

A dynamic curriculum, the support of nurturing teachers, and a warm spirit of friendship result in happy, self-confident, well-prepared young people who are ready for the world of high school and beyond.

We are dedicated to providing an environment in which students explore and research ideas, develop higher level thinking skills, and become independent, self-directed, joyful learners.
