Choosing an Independent School
If you are new to choosing an independent school, we invite you to consider the advice of Oakwood's Upper School Head Patty Crone, who provides an overview of the benefits of an independent school.
Oakwood is a private, independent school, with no religious affiliation, that offers a rich academic experience for preschool through grade 12 students. Oakwood is fully accredited by the Schools Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), which is considered the premier accreditation organization in the western United States. You can read our WASC-mandated school wide learner outcomes (SLOs) and our mission including the five tenets that guide our every step. While Oakwood School’s beautiful, 30 acre campus is expanding in exciting ways, our 535 students love that Oakwood still feels like “home”.
