GET REAL AND GET MOVING:
A PLAN OF ACTION FROM AN ALUM WHO SHOULD KNOW

Corey Baldyga, Class of 2018, is driven. He has the goods and the gumption to get things done, and he shared with seniors exactly how they could do the same: maximize your effort to optimize your performance. Not shy of telling it like it is, Corey gave a candid portrait of how the pursuit of knowledge is not always straightforward, but how the value of hard work will sustain you along the way. His testimony to what his mindset was as a 12th grader, especially regarding university, and how it was transformed once he stepped on campus, was riveting. Recounting his choice of study, extracurricular pursuits, and friendships, Corey shed light on how trusting in yourself, developing your focus, and following through on any and every commitment will garner you respect and opportunity.

His humble attitude made his accomplishments both academic and now professional seem the logical outcome. The fact that he has been fast-tracked to leadership roles, is not a coincidence. It is the byproduct of his attitude and approach to life: be yourself and be bold! Currently, Corey is serving in the US Army 2-16 Cavalry Squadron, 199th Leader Brigade. Come fall he will be part of the 1st Brigade "Ironhorse" of the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, TX, holding leadership roles in a heavy tank squadron.
