Sammie Frazer ’21 credits her time in Oakwood’s Interact Club with sparking a lasting passion for service and leadership. Through Interact, she learned the value of community engagement, collaboration, and showing up consistently for causes bigger than herself—experiences that stayed with her well beyond graduation. When she arrived at San Diego State University, joining Rotaract felt like a natural next step, and she quickly became deeply involved, taking on leadership roles and expanding her impact through service projects on campus and in the broader San Diego community. The strong sense of connection and opportunity she found at SDSU ultimately led Sammie to choose the university for her master’s program as well, allowing her to continue growing both academically and as a service-driven leader.

Hear from Sammie in her own words in a video she shared during Oakwood's high school advisory period earlier this fall.
