Lydia Sattler '21
Lydia Sattler, a class of 2021 Oakwood School alum, is proving herself as a great asset to the Stephen F. Austin State University Ladyjacks soccer team. During her senior year at Oakwood School, she was offered a Division I scholarship and signed her letter of intent to play soccer at SFA.
In her second year as goalie for SFA, she's made impressive saves at many games—including against Oklahoma State last week, when she recorded a career-high 12 saves in goal.
This streak of saves has continued throughout this year's games, and as of the game against California Baptist last week, Lydia has recorded 46 saves on the season. It was a nail-biter of a game. Lydia played the whole game hard and had nine saves, which were not easy. She was the player of the game and received the "cookie" (a slice of lumberjack pinewoods tree) - a coveted reward and symbolic of the piney woods where they live as lumberjack mascots.
Here is a video from her interview with Head Soccer Coach Tony Minatta post-game!
