Oakwood alumnus, Eric Zhao '19, who recently graduated from Carnegie Mellon University talked to Oakwood's AP Computer Science A and AP Computer Science Principles classes in January 2023 about various projects he has worked on in college. Eric is a Design major and is minoring in Human Computer Interaction. He talked about several unique and creative projects he has worked on including a Pandemic Visualizer using p5.js, a Screen Distance Repellant using Arduino, an Astral Archery Virtual Reality game built using Unity, and an enhanced skateboard (Jambo longboard) with several sound and pressure sensors. Eric showed us videos of projects in progress including an Audiospatial Experience based on the movie "Everything, Everywhere All At Once, and talked about collaborating with other talented students on group projects. Eric ended his guest lecture with words of wisdom for our students including "Things you learn can and will come back to your life", "Everything is difficult and that is okay", and most importantly ,"Learning only happens when you are interested".
