Alumni Conversation Series

"Finding your place and creating your space" was the theme for our Alumni Conversation Series in Senior Advisory. Our guest speakers were Lara Baggio '12 and Cerys Holter '21. This duo have a lot in common as they both started life in Europe and landed at Oakwood as middle schoolers. Pairing two perspectives at two different times of life was intentional, their shared experience of transitioning to a new country was pure coincidence. Their resulting adaptability and how it has influenced their lives was invaluable to the Class of 2023!

Cerys and Lara provided excellent insights on how to embrace change. From dorm life to career moves, wherever you land, learning to compromise is needed and knowing how to communicate is essential. Their message reinforced that any journey can lead to new opportunities if you have the goods and the gumption to speak your mind and opt for what is truly important: finding one’s place and creating a space to make a difference.

Many thanks to Cerys and Lara for touching the hearts and minds of our seniors. If you are keen to participate in a relaxed conversation with our seniors just let me know. The topics are wide ranging but have the common denominator of storytelling and fielding questions from students. Some examples: campus life, switching majors, tech jobs for Liberal Arts students, how to push yourself to new heights... We have done these 30 minute sessions in person or via Zoom, whatever is best for the alums. Looking forward to connecting with you at your convenience!
