A Decade of Influence

Chris Sorci, an Oakwood alum parent and sales executive at Palo Alto Networks, celebrated 10 years of sharing wisdom with Oakwood High School students, giving them insights into their futures!

On Thursday, April 2, the seniors heard from Mr. Sorci during advisory, who talked about things that actually felt useful in real life, not just in school. One of the biggest takeaways was about setting life goals, not just big, long-term ones, but smaller goals that help you stay on track and not feel overwhelmed. He also emphasized how important social connections are, like building genuine relationships and not being afraid to talk to new people, because those connections can open doors later on. Another part that stood out was his advice on job interviews, like being confident, making eye contact, and just being yourself instead of trying too hard to say the “perfect” thing. Overall, it was a really helpful talk that made a lot of us think more seriously about our future and how we present ourselves.
