A Summer of Exploration and Fun at Oakwood Camps

This summer, Oakwood School hosted over a dozen camps for students in preschool through high school designed to help children explore their interests, learn new skills, and have fun in a safe and supportive setting. Led by qualified Oakwood teachers and coaches, the camps offer engaging and active learning experiences that inspire curiosity and creativity. Among the most popular camps were The Kitchen Academy, Coach Gus’ All Sports Camp, and Showtime! A Musical Theater Camp.

At The Kitchen Academy, campers embarked on a culinary journey in a one-week food extravaganza with Ms. Jen and Ms. Emily. Campers learned basic cooking skills and techniques as they created a variety of recipes each day, from appetizers to desserts. They also crafted their own cookbooks, filled with the recipes they learned, along with their personal notes and ideas. In addition to cooking, the kids were taught kitchen safety, cleanliness, manners, and proper food-handling procedures. This camp was a huge hit, and the kids are already excited for next summer!

Coach Gus' All Sports Camp remains a favorite among Oakwood students. This camp provided the opportunity to play a variety of sports, including soccer, basketball, dodgeball, and more. Coach Gus focused on teaching fundamental strategies and techniques while leading a range of activities, drills, and games designed to build confidence and sportsmanship in a safe, positive environment.

Ms. Sorensen's Showtime! A Musical Theater Camp attracted a large audience as students discovered the thrill of acting, singing, and dancing on stage. They presented a musical adaptation of the fairytale "The Pied Piper" called "Rats!" Campers experienced auditions, rehearsals, and fun drama games that kept the energy high and creativity flowing. Our expert instructors guided them in learning song and dance numbers, memorizing lines, and mastering stage performance. At the end of the two-week camp, the kids performed for their family and friends, showcasing all they had learned. It was a fantastic experience, and they can't wait to return next summer!

Overall, the summer camps at Oakwood School provided enriching experiences that fostered learning and fun. We look forward to welcoming even more students next year for another exciting summer!
