Oakwood High School alumna Roxanne Ohayon, '17, was welcomed back to her Oakwood home with open arms. She spent the day reuniting with friends and made some new ones along the way. She engaged with students and shared her journey from her beginnings at Oakwood to her current position as a master’s student at Stanford University’s Clinical Informatics Management (MCiM) program within the School of Medicine.

We stand in admiration of Roxanne and her achievements. We appreciate that she has conveyed her perspective on her Oakwood experience so that all can enjoy reading.

"As a life-long hawk (from preschool to high school!), what stands out the most to me are the ways that Oakwood made me a confident, compassionate, life-long learner. From a very young age, the compassion and dedication of my teachers ignited a true appreciation for the art of learning and a desire to continually grow and develop my strengths. I realize that in my roles at Amgen and in my master’s studies at Stanford, I have consistently been the youngest person in the room. Yet, I’ve learned to have the confidence to communicate my strengths, the enthusiasm to embrace new challenges, and the ability to connect deeply— with my peers, my work, and the greater purpose of improving the lives of others. As my journey continues, Oakwood has shown me that the impact of educators that truly care about their students and foster our journeys as individuals, each with unique potential and passions, is a feeling that will stay with us for a lifetime."
