Alumni Wisdom
On April 17, two Oakwood High School Alumni, Arianna Vasquez ‘12 and Cerys Holter ‘21 (along with guest star Goose, the tuxedo cat), visited the Class of 2025 during advisory to share their experiences concerning college life, internships, and living away from home. Arianna shared her journey from Berkeley to Boston and back to Morgan Hill. She revealed how her aspirations evolved during college and set her course for graduate school and ultimately her career in family law. Embracing change has led Arianna to the meaningful work she does now as an Attorney and Legal Advocate for Children at Youth at the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley. Cerys talked about her life in Colorado and her experiences with internships in college. She emphasized the importance of understanding your worth, the value of what you contribute to a work environment, and when to say no to offers that don’t compensate for your time and expertise. Both women offered their perspectives on living away from home and how to deal with the loneliness that comes with that decision to be so far away. Overall, this session was very informative and left the class of 2025 feeling prepared for the years and decisions ahead of them. Thank you, Arianna and Cerys, for taking time out of your busy schedules to speak to the seniors!
