On Thursday, February 12, Oakwood School’s Athletic Center was filled with energy and school spirit as the community celebrated Winter Senior Athletes before the Boys Varsity Basketball game. Families, friends, teammates, and fans gathered to honor the dedication and achievements of senior basketball players and cheerleaders.

The evening began by honoring Oakwood Athletics Director Kort Jensen, the architect of the Oakwood athletics program. He was recognized for his leadership and vision and presented with a plaque in appreciation of his lasting impact on Oakwood Athletics.

The ceremony continued with recognition of seven seniors from Watsonville High School, a gracious show of sportsmanship that set a meaningful tone.

Oakwood seniors were introduced one by one as their bios were read. Each athlete walked down center court accompanied by family, friends, and coaches, surrounded by a cheering community.

Honored from Boys Basketball were Dame Brown, Luke Hansotte, and Noah Harper. Representing Girls Basketball were Georgia Alves, Isabelle Anderson, Kailee Barlics, Luci Bonino, Gianna Garcia, and Arya Vaid. From Cheer, Kaitlyn Gomez, Bella Gregory, and Liz Williams were also recognized.

The ceremony paid tribute to the hours these seniors dedicated to their teams—early practices, long games, and leadership on and off the court. As applause echoed through the gym, it was clear how much they have meant to Oakwood Athletics.

Following the celebration, the Boys Varsity team took the court with the pride of a grateful community. The evening honored commitment, teamwork, and the lasting impact of the Class of 2026.
