Better Together: Kinder and 3rd Grade Students Celebrate Diversity and Unity
On January 14, the Kindergarten students at Oakwood School welcomed their 3rd grade big buddies into their classrooms to celebrate Oakwood's commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. Together, they explored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., reflecting on his dream for ALL people to be treated with fairness, dignity, and kindness.
As part of the activity, students traced and colored handprints to match their individual skin tones, cut them out, and collaboratively arranged them into a giant heart. While sounding out phonograms in a phrase, they created a beautiful reminder that we are all BETTER TOGETHER.
The project served as a vibrant and creative expression of Dr. King’s message and highlighted the values that Oakwood School strives to instill in its community!
