Oakwood Middle School teacher Brad Blackwell has been named the Head Coach of the Boys Varsity Soccer team for the 2026/27 school year.

Brad Blackwell established himself as a dominant force in Northern California soccer during his standout career at Live Oak High School, where he was named the 1990 Monterey Bay League MVP after leading the league in scoring. His success on the local stage paved the way for a prestigious two-year stint in the Netherlands, where he refined his technical skills while training with world-class clubs Sparta Rotterdam and Feyenoord. Upon returning to the United States, Brad continued his competitive career at the highest collegiate level, playing Division I soccer for San Jose State University.

Following his collegiate career, Brad transitioned into a highly successful coaching tenure, spanning several premier clubs throughout the Bay Area. His tactical leadership was most evident during his four-year stretch at Leland High School, where he led the program to four consecutive league titles. For the past 17 years, Brad has brought that same dedication and precision to the classroom, serving as a math teacher at Oakwood High School. His unique background — combining elite international playing experience with a championship-winning coaching record — allows him to mentor students and athletes alike with a focus on discipline, strategy, and excellence.
