Oakwood Lower School students recently embarked on an exciting Kindness Quest in celebration of Dignity Day! Students were transported on an unforgettable laser adventure featuring superheroes, a treasure map, an outer-space robot, puzzles, games, optical illusions, and energizing music. Along the way, laser character Max Bravado encouraged students to explore the qualities that help make the school community kinder, including awareness, empathy, compassion, teamwork, and friendship.

But the kindness journey did not end when the lights came up.

Following the assembly, students met with their academic buddies to put the message of kindness into action. Older academic buddies surprised their younger academic buddies with a special gift: the book A Little Spot of Kindness, written and illustrated by Diane Albert. Together, they read the mini book and signed it, creating a sweet keepsake to remember their time together.

The buddies then completed get-to-know-you questionnaires, allowing students to learn more about one another, discover shared interests, and build meaningful connections.

Dignity Day was a wonderful celebration of learning, kindness, and connection. Students discovered how awareness, empathy, and compassion help everyone care for one another and strengthen the school community. Together, Oakwood is creating a culture of kindness, one thoughtful act and one new friendship at a time.
