Fifth Grade Gets a Taste of Middle School on Hawks Day

On September 23, Oakwood School’s 5th grade students got a first look at Middle School during their 5th Grade Hawks Day experience, previewing what’s ahead next year. The day began with a pizza lunch, followed by a panel discussion with the Middle School Council, moderated by Mrs. Hare. Students then explored “mini classes” in Athletics, Theatre, and Student Life, before joining an elective of their choice.
As a bonus activity, many students stayed after to cheer on Oakwood teams, catching both the Girls JV Volleyball game in the Athletic Center and the Middle School 8th grade boys Flag Football game on the new playfield. Hawks spirit was high as our future 6th grade students got a true taste of the Middle School experience!
