Fifth Grade Students Explore Nature and Grow at Science Camp
What an unforgettable week Oakwood School 5th grade students had at Walker Creek! From the moment they arrived, students dove headfirst into adventure, exploration, and nonstop fun. The week kicked off with cabin bonding, field studies, and the always-energetic Barn Boogie.
Throughout the week, students explored nature on eco-hikes, summited Walker Peak, and even braved a polar plunge into the chilly creek. They observed macroinvertebrates and investigated producers, consumers, and the FBI—fungi, bacteria, and invertebrates.
Evenings were just as exciting, with a magical astronomy hike, a hilarious skit night with other schools, and a final farewell featuring the traditional “Shooting Star” song.
The students returned home full of stories, memories, and maybe just a little campfire spirit.
