French IV Students Celebrate Culture!
Oakwood High School French IV students took an exciting field trip to San Francisco and celebrated all that the city and its marvelous temples of culture had to offer. They visited the Legion of Honor Museum and Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco. French artistry was plentiful with works of Matisse, Monet, and Rodin on display. The students also viewed an interesting exhibit of Mary Cassatt, an American trailblazer who made a big impact on the Impressionist movement in France.
The cultural focus encompassed art, architecture, and of course food. The day began with a visit to the authentic B. Patisserie where we indulged and tried the Breton specialty Kouign Amann. Between museum visits, they partook in a purely Norman lunch menu with a trip to the Grand Creperie located bayside at the Ferry Building. It was a delicious adventure and one that created a lot of new interests and validated the joys of spending time together and bringing culture to life.
