Congratulations to Oakwood High School junior, Kate Praserthdam, on earning an Honorable Mention from the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) through its Aspirations in Computing Award program! Kate will be recognized with a medal and certificate from the San Francisco Bay Area Affiliate during their award ceremony in April 2026.

Kate has demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication to computer science throughout her academic journey. As a 6th grade student, she enrolled in an Introduction to Virtual Reality course that incorporated complex frameworks and 3D geometry concepts typically taught at the high school level. In 9th grade, Kate completed a year-long Python programming course in a single semester. As a sophomore in AP Computer Science A, she consistently earned top scores, delivered a creative presentation on the Selection Sort algorithm, and developed a polished Battleship game for her final project. She also challenged herself by competing in Code Wars 2025.

Kate's intellectual curiosity, perseverance, and leadership make her a true role model in computer science.
