"Lightning In A Bottle" Captured On Oakwood Stage

On May 7, the annual Oakwood Middle School spring concert featured an incredibly talented cast of students. The concert included Ukes and Tunes, two Percussion Ensemble groups, and both the beginner and advanced sections of the Rock Rap Pop classes. The students' dedication and pride were clearly evident on stage.

Ukes and Tunes presented a medley of songs, including the iconic "Riptide" by Vance Joy and a beautiful rendition of Laufey's jazz standard "From the Start." They were an excellent opener for the rest of the evening.

Following were the two Percussion Ensemble classes, with Ensemble 1 playing classics such as "Bucket Mania" and "Plastik Surgery" by Chris Brooks and Chris Crock. Continuing the percussion energy was Ensemble 2, with songs like "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)," "Buckethead," and "Bang a Drum." Io N., Carlos P., Emelio M., Clemens A., and Tyler L., previously featured on Oakwood's Got Talent, played a rendition of "Valerie" by Amy Winehouse, amazing the crowd with their energy.

Rock Rap Pop 1 dazzled the audience with their coordination, seen especially in songs like "Notorious" and "Kilby Girl." Lastly, Rock Rap Pop 2 swept the stage with their standout rendition of "Separate Ways" by Journey, then closed with the classic "Hotel California" by the Eagles — ending the evening on an incredibly memorable note.

This concert showcased the depth of musical talent at Oakwood and what students can accomplish when brought together through passion and music.
