Looking Back at Oakwood Middle School Drama
Before our Oakwood Middle School performance of Something Rotten Jr. this week, let’s take a moment to reflect on how far the middle school drama program has come. From performing in the barn to the full-stage productions we see today, the program has grown alongside our school—bringing in more students, creativity, and an even bigger tech crew. “The move from the barn to the stage changed everything,” says Ms. Blanchard. “Now, students run lighting, set changes, and so much of the behind-the-scenes work—it’s truly their production.” One show that stands out to Mrs. Blanchard is last year’s production of Newsies, where students took full ownership of the tech and staging. And now, our current cast is stepping up in a big way for this year’s show—a high-energy comedy filled with dance numbers and big moments. “This class has shown so much dedication, and many are brand new to drama or even to Oakwood.” We can’t wait for you to see the magic they’ve been creating! Stay tuned for show details, and get ready for another unforgettable performance!
