Middle School Girls Volleyball Teams Kick Off Season with Strong Performances

On Monday, September 23rd, the Oakwood Middle School 8th Grade and 6th/7th Grade Lady Hawks volleyball teams launched their seasons with thrilling matches against Gilroy Prep.

The 8th Grade Lady Hawks battled through three tough sets to claim victory. Jocelyn V. delivered a standout performance, serving 10 consecutive times, including 7 powerful aces that kept Gilroy Prep on their heels. Karisma B. continued the pressure with 8 straight serves, including 3 aces. The match was full of intense rallies that kept the audience on the edge of their seats. Annabelle B.'s key defensive plays at the net helped maintain the team’s momentum, proving vital in their success. It was a stellar team effort, setting a promising tone for the rest of the season.

The 6th/7th Grade Lady Hawks also kicked off their season with an impressive victory.  Sophie C. led the way with strong serving, followed by standout contributions from Niki S. and Maria T. Apoorvah M.’s relentless hustle energized the team, while Gabriella Y. kept spirits high and communication flowing smoothly on the court. The entire team worked together to deliver a commendable performance. Coach Cherry expressed pride in her team, saying, "I’m very proud of the effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship displayed today. I look forward to seeing even more improvement throughout the season, and I have no doubt these games will help them grow and strengthen their skills and teamwork."
