Middle School Mathletes Shine at Chapter Competition
In a spectacular showcase of talent and collaboration, twelve students from Oakwood Middle School participated in the MathCounts Coyote Valley Chapter Competition this past Saturday, February 3rd. Despite facing formidable opposition from peers at neighboring middle schools, the Oakwood team (comprised of Joseph T., Logan R., Samanvay S., and Shaanvi M.) demonstrated outstanding mathematical prowess, triumphing in the team competition and securing their spot in the state-level contest. Additionally, Erik L. and Aditya S. earned their places in the state competition based on their individual performances.
The individual standings were dominated by Oakwood students, who claimed eight of the top twelve positions in the competition. Of notable mention is Samanvay S., who clinched the first-place title in the exhilarating Countdown Round, a test of both speed and accuracy. Joseph T. and Austin B. followed closely, securing third and fourth place, respectively. Furthermore, Shaanvi M. achieved the highest individual score among Oakwood's participants, with Samanvay S. closely trailing behind. Noteworthy is Aditya S., recognized as the highest-ranking sixth grader at the event, showcasing the remarkable depth of talent within Oakwood's math enthusiasts. As the Oakwood team sets its sights on the state competition, we commend their achievements and extend our best wishes for their continued success in representing the school!
