Middle School Wrestling Shines at Maverick Showdown

A small group of Oakwood Middle School wrestlers entered the arena and left with hardware at the Maverick Showdown in Santa Cruz. The tournament hosted 23 teams from Monterey, Salinas, Hollister, Watsonville, Santa Cruz, and, of course, Morgan Hill. Although the team was outnumbered, with some teams bringing as many as 20 wrestlers, Oakwood wrestlers battled hard. Earning multiple pins and racking up valuable bonus points helped the team finish strong with a 2nd place team finish. Lillie G. placed 3rd, while Noah T. and Ethan S. left as champions, pinning every opponent they faced on their way to the top of the podium.
