Oakwood Hawks 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team Wins Championship Trophy
On Saturday, March 18th, Oakwood School hosted the San Benito 8th Grade Boys Basketball end-of-the-season tournament. Seven teams participated in a single elimination tournament, and after a hard-fought battle, the Oakwood Hawks emerged victorious, taking home the Championship Trophy by defeating Charter 39-33 in the final!
The Oakwood Hawks played three games in a row on Saturday, capping off an amazing season with a final record of 9-2. The team showcased their skills and teamwork, which were instrumental in their success throughout the season. 8th graders Rai F., Brendan L., and Bryce S. were named to the All-Tournament Team, highlighting their exceptional performances during the tournament.
The Oakwood community came out in full force to support the team, and it was heartwarming to see such a great turnout at the games. It was an electrifying atmosphere in the Athletic Center, as the crowd cheered the team on to victory. It was a testament to the dedication and hard work of the team and coaches throughout the season.
We would like to extend a special thanks to our amazing coaches, Joseph Lampkin and Robert Coley, for their hard work and dedication to this year's team. Their leadership, guidance, and support helped the team reach its full potential and achieve its goals.
We would also like to thank our Athletic Director, Kort Jensen, and the Boys' High School Basketball Program for their support of the tournament. They welcomed all the visiting teams and cheered on our 8th graders in the final. The success of the tournament was due in no small part to their efforts.
In conclusion, the Oakwood Hawks 8th Grade Boys Basketball team had an outstanding season, culminating in their Championship Trophy win at the San Benito 8th Grade Boys Basketball end-of-the-season tournament. The team demonstrated excellent teamwork, skill, and determination, and we are proud of their achievements. Congratulations to the Oakwood Hawks on a well-deserved victory, and Go Hawks!
