Oakwood High School International Students Host a Flavorful and Cultural Celebration of Eastern Europe
On Tuesday, April 4th, Oakwood School international students from Europe hosted an Eastern European cultural celebration that highlighted the richness and diversity of their home countries. The event was an opportunity for students to share their culture, traditions, and favorite foods with their high school classmates.
The celebration was a feast for the senses, as the aroma of delicious and authentic foods filled the air. The students prepped, cooked, shopped, and selected music for the lunchtime celebration. They went to great lengths to showcase the unique flavors and textures of their traditional cuisine.
Multiple tables were filled with traditional foods, sweets, and drinks from Georgia, Serbia, Hungary, and Belarus. Students had the opportunity to sample and taste new dishes while learning about the different cultures and traditions of their peers.
In addition to the food, the celebration also featured maps, photos, and cultural artifacts that highlighted the distinct features and characteristics of each country. The artifacts provided a window into the history, music, art, and customs of each nation.
The cultural celebration was an opportunity for Oakwood students to appreciate the richness and diversity of Eastern Europe. The event allowed students to broaden their horizons, gain new perspectives, and make connections with their peers from different cultures.
In a world that is increasingly diverse and interconnected, cultural celebrations like this are important in promoting understanding, respect, and appreciation for different cultures. Oakwood International students set an example for us all by showcasing the beauty and richness of their cultures in a way that brings people together.
