Oakwood International Student Coordinator visits China!

Oakwood School’s International Student Coordinator, Roberta Vinkhuyzen, recently returned from a very productive two week trip to China where she promoted Oakwood High School to multiple families, students, and agencies that prepare Chinese students for American high schools. Roberta shared a colorful, bilingual PowerPoint about Oakwood and interviewed over 50 students during her multi city visit.

Looking back on her trip, Roberta enthusiastically described it as an extraordinary experience.“It was a fantastic trip! Everyone I met was friendly and welcoming. This was my third and favorite trip so far representing Oakwood. I met so many lovely parents hoping to send their children to Oakwood. I was lucky to interview a number of talented, English fluent students and offer several conditional acceptances. We can look forward to welcoming a select number of international students from China this fall.”

A crucial part of our International Student program is finding warm and friendly local host families for our students. It’s an incredible experience of friendship and cross cultural exchange.
