Oakwood Middle School Explores American Heritage

Oakwood Middle School 8th grade students recently returned from an enriching East Coast trip, delving into the annals of American history and experiencing iconic cities. 

The journey began in Boston with a visit to the Paul Revere Statue and the Old North Church. Next, the class journeyed to Plymouth, Massachusetts, immersing themselves in the story of the Pilgrims' arrival at Plymouth Rock. After, they traveled to Harvard University, where the students walked in the footsteps of luminaries and explored the campus. 

From Boston they continued their journey to New York City. The students visited the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and then indulged in the glitz and glamour of Broadway at the "Back to the Future" show! Before departing for Washington, D.C., they also took time to explore the vast expanse of Central Park.

In the Nation's capital, the class explored many national memorials as well as the corridors of power, touring the Capitol Building and taking a group photo in front of the White House. A visit to Nationals Park provided a thrilling experience as the students watched the Washington Nationals beat the Toronto Blue Jays, soaking in the excitement of America's favorite pastime.

As the journey came to a close, the students returned home with hearts and minds enriched by the experiences of their East Coast trip. Through encounters with history, culture, and the spirit of adventure, they forged memories that will last a lifetime, inspired to embrace the boundless possibilities of their futures.
