The 2nd Annual Oakwood School Athletics Awards Gala brought together student-athletes, families, coaches, and supporters on May 9 for an unforgettable evening celebrating the outstanding accomplishments, leadership, and spirit of Oakwood athletics.

Held in front of a packed crowd, the gala honored athletes from every grade level while recognizing the dedication and hard work that helped make the 2025-2026 athletic year one of the most successful in school history. The evening also included a dessert bar reception, special recognition awards, and the presentation of Oakwood letterman jackets to deserving student-athletes.

Among the top honors of the night were the Athlete of the Year awards. Freshman Camila Mendoza and Andrew Maghsoudi earned Freshman Female and Male Athlete of the Year honors, while sophomores Katya Starodub, Ria Deshpande, and Avi Martinez shared Sophomore Female Athlete of the Year recognition. Sophomore standouts Shaan Gill and Jett Alexander were named Sophomore Male Athletes of the Year. At the junior level, Olivia Wong was recognized as Junior Female Athlete of the Year, while Rai Fleizach and Bryce Smith-Keeney shared Junior Male Athlete of the Year honors. Senior Athlete of the Year honors went to Isabelle Anderson and Lucas Tompkins for their leadership, dedication, and impact on Oakwood athletics throughout their high school careers.

The gala also celebrated athletes and community members who demonstrated exceptional character and service. David Campbell received the Comeback Player of the Year Award for his perseverance and determination. Luke Titi and Carl-Philip Arnold were honored with the Outstanding Service Award for their contributions to Oakwood athletics behind the scenes. Eight student-athletes earned the prestigious Hawk Award for demonstrating leadership, school spirit, commitment, and character throughout the year: Georgia Alves, Gabriella Zelenyak, Dhruvil Patel, Luke Hansotte, Natalia Cervantes Chavez, Tanner Ota, Kelly Kobata, and Sophia Fieler. The Kort Jensen Coach of the Year Award was presented to Hayden Gustafson and Chris Hashem for their dedication to student-athletes and leadership within their programs. Robert Coley Jr. received the Spirit of Oakwood Award for his positive impact and support of the Oakwood community. Parents and supporters were also recognized during the evening, with Inga Klingauf, Rick Keeney, Shaneen Monaco, and Helen Fieler receiving Parent Volunteer of the Year honors for their commitment and service throughout the athletic season.

The 2nd Annual Oakwood Athletics Awards Gala served as a celebration not only of athletic success, but of the relationships, perseverance, sportsmanship, and community spirit that continue to define Oakwood School Athletics.
