Collaboration & Innovation: Oakwood School’s Professional Growth Day
On Monday, March 10, 2025, Oakwood School faculty and staff participated in a full day of professional growth designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and school spirit.
The day began with the Oakwood Go Game, a campus-wide challenge where 11 teams raced to complete 54 tasks in 30 minutes. The activities, which ranged from individual to group challenges, encouraged teamwork and creativity, with photos and videos documenting their progress.
Following the game, faculty attended Think Tank sessions, choosing from four discussions: Project-Based Learning with Isaac Berniker, Assessments with Chris Shales, AI at Oakwood with Mike Lyle, and School Spirit with Cameron Helvey. Staff were also invited to participate in these sessions.
The late morning provided time for faculty work and collaboration, allowing educators to apply insights from the morning sessions and prepare for upcoming initiatives.
In the afternoon, division-specific meetings focused on tailored discussions. Lower School faculty explored the Portrait of a Student by grade level, while Middle School faculty reviewed curriculum objectives. High School faculty broke into three groups, addressing the advisory program, neurodiversity and strength-based approaches, and AI framework development.
The day’s activities reinforced Oakwood School’s commitment to a more intentional education by fostering passionate expertise, confident self-expression, and unbridled exploration.
