Oakwood Student Earns High Marks at Speech Tournament

Oakwood High School freshman Nathan Emata competed in Novice Informative Speaking at the Ryan Mills SVUDL Invitational on February 21. The speech tournament was held online via Tabroom.com, with all proceeds benefiting the Silicon Valley Urban Debate League — an organization dedicated to empowering under-resourced, diverse high school students to reach their full potential as professional and community leaders. Over the course of 3 rounds on Saturday, Nathan racked up high enough scores for a cumulative ranking of 2nd place for his speech, "Walk, Walk, Fashion Baby!" about the history of Haute Couture Fashion and how it influences current trends today.
