Congratulations to all the Oakwood High School swimmers for their outstanding performance at the PCAL Championships on April 26! Their dedication, positivity, and support for each other throughout the grueling 8-hour meet were truly commendable.

A special shoutout goes to our Oakwood supporters: Mr. Berniker, Ms. Monaco, Mr. Tompkins, Ms. Flores, Maddison's sister, and Mr. Weltchek. Their presence, cheers, and assistance with marshaling and capturing team moments made the event even more memorable. The team loved having you there!

Despite battling severe allergy symptoms, senior Maddison Lara displayed incredible courage by competing in her final high school race, the 50 Free, with unwavering determination. She secured the 14th position overall, clocking in at 33.26 seconds.

Senior Sydney Monaco took on the 50 Free for the first time this season, clinching the 15th spot overall and triumphing in her heat! Additionally, she excelled in the 100 Free, finishing 12th with an impressive time of 1:21.80.

Senior Maddy Weltchek continued her dominance by defending her title in the 100 Breaststroke, maintaining an undefeated streak this season. Maddy will be competing in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke at CCS next week.

Our boys' team, comprised of freshman Rai Fleizach, freshman Porter Banks, freshman Max Weltchek, and sophomore Lucas Tompkins, achieved remarkable success. They secured the top position in their heat for both the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay. Notably, their 400 Free Relay time of 4:22.75 shattered the Oakwood team record by an astounding 16 seconds!

Rai earned the 23rd spot overall in the 50 Free and the 19th spot in the 100 Free, achieving a personal best in the latter during the 400 Free relay.

Porter claimed the 15th position in both the 50 Free and 100 Free, coming very close to his personal best times.

Max demonstrated his prowess by securing the 4th spot in the 200 Individual Medley and the 6th spot in the 100 Breaststroke, achieving personal best times in both events.

Lucas emerged victorious in both the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke, setting new Oakwood records, surpassing his own league records, and securing qualification for CCS with personal best times in both events.

Congratulations to Maddison, Sydney, Maddy, Rai, Porter, Max, and Lucas for their outstanding performance!

Best of luck to Maddy and Lucas as they represent Oakwood at CCS!
