The Oakwood High School TIDE Awards, a tradition created by students for students, continue to recognize the qualities that help shape Oakwood School culture. Standing for Thoughtfulness, Involvement, Dedication, and Enjoyment, the awards highlight students who consistently bring positivity, commitment, and support to those around them.

This year, the seniors selected three underclassmen they believe best embody the spirit of TIDE. The Class of 2026 was united in their opinion that the recipients stood out not only for their accomplishments, but for the way they contribute to the community on a daily basis — through leadership, participation, kindness, and enthusiasm.

While the awards themselves are simple, their meaning is significant. More than anything, the tradition serves as a student-led expression of appreciation and recognition. The TIDE Awards are a way of saying that the efforts, character, and energy these students bring to Oakwood School have been noticed and valued.

The Class of 2026 presents the TIDE Awards for:

  • Unbridled Exploration to Brady Kurimoto, who dives deeply into his interests with enthusiasm, constantly seeking to learn more and push boundaries.
  • Confident Self-Expression to Joseph Taylor, who communicates his ideas, identity, and creativity boldly and authentically, inspiring others to do the same.
  • Strong Moral Example to Kelly Kobata, who consistently acts with integrity, compassion, and courage, setting a powerful example for peers.
