Pioneer Day Brings History to Life for Oakwood's 2nd Grade
Second grade students at Oakwood School have been diving into the history of American Pioneers and the westward expansion. To bring this lesson to life, the school recently hosted an all-day Pioneer Day event. Teachers, students, and parent volunteers came dressed as pioneers, immersing themselves in activities that recreated life in the 1800s.
Throughout the day, students engaged in hands-on experiences such as sewing, butter churning, planting flowers, and singing traditional pioneer songs, complete with dancing. They also crafted paper dolls, played classic pioneer games, and discovered how much they had in common with children from that era. The event was both educational and entertaining, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who participated!
