Seventh Grade Students Dive into Learning on Santa Catalina Island

Oakwood School 7th grade students recently embarked on an educational journey to Santa Catalina Island, where the island's diverse ecosystems offered them a fantastic opportunity for hands-on learning. Throughout the week-long trip, students explored both underwater and on land, engaging in kayaking and snorkeling to discover the vibrant kelp forest and the island's unique landscapes.
On land, they delved into sustainability practices, participating in composting and gardening activities. The students also honed their cooperation, leadership, and personal responsibility skills through exciting team-building challenges, including a climbing wall and ropes courses.
We extend our gratitude to the Catalina Environmental Leadership Program (CELP) for hosting our students and facilitating such an enriching and interactive experience.
