High School Celebrates Diversity with Spring Festival/Lunar New Year Celebration
Despite the rainy weather, Oakwood High School's annual Spring Festival/Lunar New Year celebration, held this past Monday, February 5th, proved to be a huge success! Led by Ms. Vinkhuyzen, a collaborative effort brought together international students and those who honor the spring festival tradition. Together, they planned, shopped, cooked, and decorated the liberal arts building's lobby with festive decorations. Despite the weather's challenges, the event brimmed with joy as attendees indulged in delectable Chinese delicacies and treats.
The occasion served not only as a festive gathering but also as an enriching educational experience, allowing attendees to exchange cultural insights and savor the diverse array of foods offered. This celebration was a testament to Oakwood's commitment to embracing and honoring the cultural heritage of its diverse student body, especially those of Asian descent.
Many thanks to the dedicated students and families whose hard work and culinary contributions made this event possible. Additionally, heartfelt thanks to Oakwood for its unwavering support in fostering such meaningful cultural celebrations within its community.
