On Friday, November 21, the Oakwood School community came together for the annual Thanks & Giving assembly—an Oakwood tradition that highlights what it means to be community contributors through service, gratitude, and compassion.

The celebration included songs, student reflections, and presentations honoring the spirit of giving. Throughout the week, every Oakwood student contributed food items that were assembled into meal boxes for local families. Thanks to their generosity and teamwork, Oakwood School donated 207 complete meal boxes, 22 $30 gift cards, and $2,274 in cash contributions to Community Solutions to support families in need during the Thanksgiving season.

Oakwood’s 2nd grade classes also led a beloved literacy-focused tradition by collecting new and gently used books for the Gamma Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International. With help from families across all grade levels, the community gathered 867 books this year, all of which will be distributed to literacy programs throughout Morgan Hill, including the Morgan Hill Boys & Girls Club and local shelters.

Since the start of this tradition in 2002, the Oakwood community has donated thousands of meal boxes, books, and essential items—each contribution reflecting the school’s ongoing commitment to kindness and service.

Oakwood School extends its appreciation to every student, family, faculty member, and volunteer whose efforts made this year’s Thanks & Giving initiative so meaningful. Their generosity continues to make a difference throughout the community.
