Congratulations to Oakwood High School Contestants and Winners of the 37th Annual Rotary Youth Speech Contest

The 37th annual Morgan Hill Rotary, Richard D. King Annual Youth Speech Contest, was held last week via Zoom. Oakwood High School students: Seniors Lili Jacquet and Madina Turaeva, Sophomores Jillian Bogosian, Sophie Lord, & Reena Panikar, and Freshman Mikaela Minoza, represented us very well. Madina Turaeva garnered the first place award, second place went to Jillian Bogosian, and third place went to Lili Jacquet.

The students gave memorable speeches hitting the four-way test of the things we think, say, or do and this year's theme "Rotary Opens Opportunites." This competition was an exciting beginning to the careers of Oakwood's new orators (Jillian, Reena, Sophie, and Mikaela) and a nostalgic moment of closure for Madina and Lili, whose careers began with Rotary in 2018.

The next level of competition will be the Area contest, including winners from the South Bay clubs in our district. The first-place winner, Madina Turaeva, will be at the Area contest. As Madina moves onto the next level, we are all so excited for her and hope to watch her next steps on Zoom! Click here to watch a recording of the event!
