Eighth Grade Girls Volleyball Team Wins San Benito Athletic League Championship

On October 19th, the Oakwood eighth grade girls' volleyball team competed in the San Benito Athletic League Volleyball tournament. It was an emotional day for the team. In round one Oakwood lost their first match against Spring Grove, but rallied to win against both Sacred Heart and then Charter, securing their position in the semi-finals.

During the semi-finals, the team kept up their winning streak by defeating San Juan in two matches, securing for the team either the first or second-place spot in the tournament.

The Oakwood team played against Spring Grove for the championship, and both teams played the entire day incredibly! The first match had some fantastic rallies and saves. Ultimately Oakwood took the win with a score of 25/23. The second match was also close; however, Spring Grove managed to pull out the win with a score of 25/21. The spectators were on the edge of their seats as it all came down to the final match. At this point, the Lady Hawks were exhausted, but they managed to dig deep and take home the win! The final score of the tie-breaking final match was 11/3 for Oakwood. Congratulations to the Eighth Grade Lady Hawks, who are the 2019-2020 San Benito Athletic League Volleyball Champions!
