Oakwood Preschool through High School Educators have been resilience personified. They quickly organized classrooms within their homes and adapted their teaching styles to fit the new Oakwood Zoom Class platform, learning new technology and applications along the way. They understand that learning online can be challenging and have worked to present the information clearly, giving students the tools and knowledge needed so they can be successful during their independent learning time. Upper School faculty are even using zoom technology in their classes to provide breakout discussion groups.
Along with providing a stellar Oakwood away from Oakwood education, it has been the mission of our faculty to give students as much normalcy as possible. Students still perform the pledge of allegiance at the beginning of the school day, and consistent Zoom Class schedules and routines, with classes from history and math to art and music, are in place to keep the structure of school continuing.
Our teachers have been impressed by the resilience of Oakwood students, coming to classes on time, ready to learn and interact with their teachers and classmates. They are truly grateful they can continue to meet with their students and continue their course work until we are all able to return to the Oakwood campus.
