Oakwood Community Gives Back Through Thanks and Giving

Thanks and Giving is Oakwood's school-wide community service project, which encompasses our educational goal of being Community Contributors through Respect, Service, Cooperation, and Good Citizenship.

This meaningful event recognizes the opportunity to reach out to those in our community who are less fortunate. Every student contributes food items during the week leading up to the assembly, and their collective efforts provide bins of food that will give many needy families in our community everything they need for a Thanksgiving meal. Completed bins are received and picked up by Community Solutions for distribution. Oakwood 2nd-grade classes collect lightly used or new books or cash donations for "Reading Hour" at El Toro Clubhouse in Morgan Hill.

The Oakwood community gathers together for a special all-school assembly that includes messages and songs of thanksgiving, as well as a special video that commemorates the thanks and giving of Oakwood students and staff.

This year everyone pitched in and made it possible for our school to donate 177 feast bins to Community Solutions and 1,513 books for the El Toro Club House in Morgan Hill.

Thank you to everyone that continually contributes their time, talents, and generosity to make our community flourish.
