Oakwood Vocal Cell Phone Ensemble Perform "Tuxedo Junction"

As the school year comes to an end, some of the annual events we were looking fondly towards are not on the calendar due to the shelter in place order. One of these events is the "A Little Song and Dance" performance. However, Mr. Potter has a little surprise to share with his amazing students and the entire Oakwood community. He has created an incredible video of his students performing "Tuxedo Junction."

Creating a seamless soundtrack like this one is no easy feat; this passion project for Mr. Potter took about 200 hours to complete. He recruited the help of his wife Gale for this endeavor. As they began the project, they had the students record their videos individually on their cell phones. They realized there would be three significant issues to address: lining up the timing of what the singers recorded with the instrumental accompaniment track, adjusting the volume of the individual recordings submitted by the students, and lastly, correcting any pitch issues. They then utilized several different software applications to mix the 15 individual tracts to sound as if the entire group had sung it all together.

The video they have produced is terrific! We'd like to thank the students that lent their voices to this project, and of course, Mr. Potter and his wife Gale for allowing us to enjoy their efforts!
