The registration deadline is December 20, 2017.
Participation is open to all Middle School & High School students in Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy. Categories for entry are biology, chemistry, physics, engineering/math/computer science and behavioral science. Projects will be reviewed for safety.
An informational event for teachers and families who are interested in participating in the South Valley Science Fair and want to learn how to produce a competitive science fair project will be held at Oakwood School on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 7pm. An additional informational event focused on engineering will be led by Synopsys Championship and held at Oakwood School on November 27, 2017 at 7pm.
Set-up for the Science Fair will be at Oakwood School on January 10, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. On January 11, 2018, student participants can arrive as early as 3:00 p.m. and up until 3:30 p.m. to meet with the judges. Doors open to the public at 6 p.m. Awards will be announced at approximately 6:15 p.m. The displays will be available for viewing until 7 p.m.
South Valley Science Fair is moving toward becoming an official feeder fair into the Synopsys Silicon Valley Science and Technology Championship. The Championship sends students on to the California State Science Fair, the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, and several other events. Currently, we encourage those students interested in the Championship to visit their site at science-fair.org, and fill out applications if you are interested in securing a place at the regional fair.
