Sixth and Seventh Grade Students Enjoy Team-Building Day on Mt. Madonna

Oakwood 6th and 7th grade students headed out to Mt. Madonna for their annual Oakwood Adventure, where they spent an incredible day bonding. The students were divided into six random groups and were able to make new friends and bond with classmates from last year. They played a variety of team-building games, including Bocce Ball, Frisbee Golf, Cup Stacking, Pass the Bucket (students sit and pass a bucket full of water around in a circle while seated and only using their feet), Fallen Log (two teams start on opposite sides of a log, pass the other group, and end up on the other side without anyone falling off), and Sherpa Walk (a blind trust game where the blindfolded follow the voice of their partners to travel safely through the woods).

After the students participated in the various games, they ate lunch while listening to a story from Ranger Mike. The afternoon concluded with the popular Minute To Win It game: Face the Cookie. Both teachers and students enjoyed the beautiful weather and made lasting memories!

Eighth grade students and their advisors soared into the new school year with the annual Trapeze Arts adventure. This exciting activity allowed the students to use a growth mind set and test their bravery, all while flying though the air. This unique opportunity also made for a great day of bonding.

High School Students Kick Off New School Year During Hawk Hunt

This Wednesday, Oakwood High School embarked on the annual High School Adventure to start the school year. This year, students and faculty headed to Santana Row for the Hawk Hunt, a multimedia scavenger hunt with GoGame. The students worked out creative (and sometimes silly!) solutions to the clues, which often required either a photo or video, such as a finger puppet recreation of a scene in Jurassic Park. There were also trivia questions and head to head competitions, like epic thumb wrestling, two truths and a lie, and compliment battles. It was an exciting day of imagination and competition. Afterwards, they decamped to Maggiano's for a delicious buffet of soup, salads, sandwiches, brownies, and ice cream, while watching and voting for the best submissions from their competitors. The winning team, the Strawberry Raccoons, walked away with a trophy, medals, and the admiration and awe of the entire high school.
