Oakwood is a not-for-profit educational institution fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) which is generally accepted as the highest standard of accreditation in the Western United States for both public and private educational institutions.

Our mission is to promote academic excellence by educating outstanding students, regardless of financial resources, and to provide access to the education that helps all students reach their full potential.

Merit Scholarships

Oakwood provides merit scholarships to new students entering grades 4 through 12 for academic excellence, outstanding citizenship, and positive contribution to the school and community. Scholarships are merit-based and not need-based. The Oakwood Scholarship Program is designed to make it possible for top students to attend Oakwood. Scholarships are granted by recommendation of the Scholarship Committee, after interviews with the candidates and review of their qualifications. Scholarship applications are accepted for students who are new to the school, and are submitted as part of the Admissions application. Applications submitted by the deadline receive full consideration and all awards are confidential.

Criteria:

Outstanding academic standing at current school
Outstanding citizenship record at current school
Extracurricular activities with a positive contribution to the school or community

Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $15,000 per year, and recipients complete a renewal process annually.

Financial Aid

Oakwood is pleased to be able to offer financial aid to qualifying families who would otherwise not be able to attend Oakwood. While Oakwood’s financial aid budget is limited, we encourage families who need assistance to apply. The financial aid application is managed separately from the general admissions process, however both must be done during the admissions season if a family anticipates the need for aid. Aid applications are submitted directly to FAST, a third-party vendor, who verifies the financial data provided by each family.

Financial Aid is available for Oakwood students beginning in Kindergarten. Oakwood does not provide financial aid for students in Preschool and Junior Kindergarten.

Families may apply for financial aid at any time, however please see the Important Dates page for the annual deadline in order to be in the first round of consideration for a given academic school year.

Receive notification of any aid awarded at the time of the admissions decision. Please note that eligibility for admission to Oakwood is determined entirely independent of the aid application submitted.

Your Tuition Solution

Your Tuition Solution specializes in fixed-rate K-12 education loans. The program is offered by over 2,400 schools throughout the US. Your Tuition Solution is a Corporate member of the National Association of Independent Schools and has an A rating from the Better Business Bureau.

You may borrow up to the full tuition cost minus any tuition assistance you receive. The minimum you can borrow is $2,000. There are no origination or application fees or down payment, and terms are available from 24 to 84 months. Interest rates are fixed and are as low as 4.99% APR.

Sallie Mae K-12 Family Education Loan

The K-12 Family Education Loan finances all education-related expenses. You can borrow a minimum of $1,000 up to the total cost of education, in such amounts as approved by Sallie Mae. There are flexible payment terms from one to three years and interest rates are variable and are based on LIBOR one-month rates. Sallie Mae loans may pay for tuition, books, computers, musical instruments, sports and other extracurricular activities that enrich your child’s learning experience. Education Savings Account

Education Savings Accounts (“ESA”) provide a means for investing post-tax dollars into an investment fund that can be used to defray the costs of education for students in elementary and secondary schools, as well as for college. Distributions are tax-free, provided they comply with IRS regulations for the ESA (see www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc310.html). You should consult with your tax advisor regarding these financing tools.
