He has a lot to say, and he’s learning how to say it. Whether shy or bold, introverted or extroverted, spontaneous or methodical— Oakwood students graduate with the confidence and knowledge to project their voices thoughtfully from any stage.
Here, performing doesn’t mean pretending to be someone else. It means becoming your best self, and learning how to share that self with others.
That’s why we give all our students plenty of opportunities to perform in public—giving presentations in class, playing characters, singing, and dancing. It doesn’t happen all at once, but it does happen: Students begin to speak more clearly, listen more attentively, and challenge their own boundaries. Before you know it, your child is delivering a Shakespearean soliloquy in front of the school or becoming a standout on the debate team.
And, whatever the context, he’s communicating intelligently and respectfully—the key to success in any college, any career, any relationship.
We are Morgan Hill’s independent, non-sectarian, college-preparatory school for students in preschool through grade 12. Our diverse community, thriving on an expansive campus, provides a home for an extended family of learners. Here, we share our unwavering commitment to a more intentional education. To learn more about our educational philosophy, download our Upper School Brochure. The best way for your family to meet our family is to tour our scenic Morgan Hill campus, meet our teachers and students, and observe our learning in action. Our family looks forward to meeting yours.

On November 13, Oakwood School hosted an Open House for prospective students and their families as well as current Oakwood families who wanted to preview all the opportunities ahead. The day was a wonderful showcase of all Oakwood has to offer, with classroom demonstrations, student performances, and student-led campus tours. This event, the first on-campus Open House in nearly two years, was a true celebration for our school community. We were thrilled to welcome current and future Oakwood families to campus for this special day.
Oakwood will host one more Open House this school year–mark your calendar for Saturday, March 5, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Contact admissions@oakwoodway.org to RSVP.
On the last day of school, Friday, May 28th, the Oakwood High School Class of 2021 wore their caps and gowns to participate in Oakwood School's Third Annual Senior Walk. Students, faculty, and staff enthusiastically cheered on our seniors in-person while families showed their support watching the event live over Zoom. It was a special experience not only for the graduating seniors but also for the younger students who look up to them. We are proud to celebrate our Senior Class's great accomplishment with this Oakwood tradition.
Friday, May 28, the last day of school, was a jubilant day for Oakwood students and faculty. Middle School students began the day with an Awards Assembly, followed by time to sign classmate's yearbooks. Next, eighth-grade students opened a time capsule that they created during their sixth-grade year. The time capsule contained notes they each wrote to their "future selves" to provide wisdom and advice as they got older. Finally, to conclude the day's events for Middle School, students from all grades cheered the Class of 2021 during the Senior Walk. We wish all of the Oakwood Student a wonderful summer!
Oakwood School was thrilled to be chosen for our students to talk with Astronaut Dr. Shaoon Walker on the International Space Station via Amateur Radio on March 22, 2021. This activity was part of the ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station) Program, which promotes learning opportunities as part of the STEM (Science, Technology, Education and Math) initiative.
On Friday, February 5 fifteen Oakwood Mathletes participated in the Coyote Valley Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competition. Ishan M. and Avi S. have now qualified to compete in the State Competition on March 25!! Congratulations to all of the Oakwood Mathletes who represented Oakwood!
Students in Mrs. Wilmot's Introduction to Virtual Reality class have been creating VR worlds using HTML and the A-Frame JavaScript library. They learned how to create animations with 3D shapes like boxes, cones, cylinders, toruses and how to introduce both click-based and gaze-based interaction to their animations. They are also able to use 360 degree images in their animations. Students can view their VR creations on their computers, phones, or through an Oculus Rift. This was a challenging course for our middle school students, who learned to work with advanced frameworks more appropriate for high school, and we are proud of all that they have learned.
This week Oakwood High School celebrated the current Oakwood 8th-grade middle school students accepted into the Oakwood High School for the 2021-2022 school year! The event began when Oakwood's mascot, Thunder, lead the students from the middle school quad to the high school quad, where high school students and faculty cheered their arrival. High School Student Council President Lili Jaquet and Upper School Head & Principal Mark Newton shared words of encouragement with the students. We are excited these bright students have chosen Oakwood High School! Welcome future Oakwood class of 2025!
Thanks & Giving is Oakwood's school-wide community service project, which encompasses our educational goal of being Community Contributors through Respect, Service, Cooperation, and Good Citizenship. This meaningful event recognizes the opportunity to reach out to those in our community who are less fortunate. This year we asked families to donate funds that were used to purchase grocery store gift cards. These gift cards were then presented to Community Solutions who will distribute them to local families in need.
This week was full of Halloween celebrations! Both Middle School and High School enjoyed their own unique "Spirits Week". The daily themes were: Mythical Monday, Teacher Tuesday, Wild West Wednesday (middle school) and Wacky Wednesday (high school), Throwback Thursday, and Free Choice Friday. On Thursday the High School faculty and staff joined in the fun and wore ninja costumes.
Despite having just moved to a neighborhood with an “All 10” rated public school, our son was not being challenged academically and also came to feel unsafe while at school. I can’t begin to say enough about the dedication and quality of the teachers and administrators at Oakwood. The safety and support of the school is a value you can clearly see in every Oakwood teacher, student and alum. I do believe that Oakwood has been pivotal in getting our son’s education back on track, not just for high school, but in preparation for college and beyond.

My son is most interested in being able to take the classes that he wants and in being with a group of serious, like-minded people, who want to get ahead. I love the motivated peer group and family at Oakwood. They are all concerned with education. The peer pressure that he has is all good.

Oakwood has been the best educational decision we have made. We love the environment, the teachers, the structure and how the students interact with each other. Our daughter has thrived in this atmosphere.
